A mathematical logic problem?
A group of 12 girl scouts had enough food to last for 8 days when they reached the camp. However, 4 more scouts joined them without the amount of food is increasing. How long will the food last if Each scout is given the same daily ration as planned? Please explain how to get your answer.
The food in the last 6 days. Girl Scouts 12 would use the food in 8 days, so there are 12 x 8 = 96 food units (one unit is the amount eaten in one of the Girl Scouts for a day). If four more Girl Scouts meet them, then there is 12 + 4 = 16 Girl Scouts. 96 units must now be divided by 16 Girl Scouts, so 96 / 16 = 6, so the food would be last 6 days.
