Hiking Hatchets
Bowie knife and traveling by plane …?
Friends and I are going on a week long hiking trip. We want to take the whole team including an ax and bowie knives. Since we are on an airplane is what will allow these items in your checked baggage or are strictly forbidden? If allowed in checked baggage do not need locks on it?
checked baggage only. I always carry at least a decent knife to cut some meat and bread – most places "Facilities" have knives poor. Locks – I do not know. check with the carrier. if you stay in the country, I'd say no problem, but with some of the current U.S. rules, anything is possible. Instead of paying for expensive locks, which can be opened by the authorities, I use cable ties. if they are cut, I know someone tried to enter, and I can file a claim with the carrier, if something is missing. officials always let you know, if you open a piece baggage.
