Hiking Dogs
Good dogs for hiking?
I want to get a flat coated retriever, and I also want to go camping in the warmer climate (a Once old enough). Does anyone know if this breed is a good hiking and camping companion? Thanks!
One thing to note is that Retriever coat! Collect a lot of burrs and mud. I have a longer haired dog (Spaniel cross) is almost impossble to camp with her in a full coat. So I keep her legs cut short. She does not look as pretty without fringes, but I'd go crazy with the constant toilet (we are dedicated to many outdoor activities of hiking and kayaking bike camping in all weather:)) Like my dogs to be washed and worn so to speak – coat easier to deal with me is my Pit Bull.
